NYCN KOGI SECRETARY GENERAL APPLAUDS ASIWAJU ASIRU IDRIS, CALLS FOR GREATER INVESTMENT IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

The Secretary General of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State Chapter, Amb. Abdullahi Ismaila Abdulkadir, has commended Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Development, Kogi State, for his technology driven approach towards youth advancement, describing the growing attention to technology as an important pathway to unlocking the potential of young people across the state.

Amb. Abdullahi noted that in today's rapidly evolving world, technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity for youth empowerment, economic participation and sustainable development.

He stressed that equipping young people with digital skills, technological knowledge and access to innovation is essential to preparing them for the opportunities and challenges of the modern economy.

The NYCN Secretary General emphasized that this is not about political campaigns; it is about genuine youth development, empowerment and building a sustainable future for the next generation.

He maintained that youth development should transcend political affiliations and focus on practical initiatives that create opportunities, strengthen capacities and enable young people to become economically independent.

He therefore called on relevant ministries, private sector stakeholders, technology experts and development partners to deepen their investment in youth focused programmes, particularly in digital literacy, information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and vocational training.

He further urged that such opportunities be extended across all 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State, ensuring that young people in rural communities are not left behind in the digital transformation process.

According to him, every young person, regardless of background or location, deserves a fair opportunity to acquire relevant skills, explore their talents and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.

“The future of Kogi State cannot be secured without deliberate investment in its young people.

Our youths do not merely need promises; they need access to opportunities, relevant skills, mentorship, technological resources and an enabling environment to thrive.

When we invest in our youths, we invest in the economic strength, innovation and future prosperity of our state.”

Amb. Abdullahi also called on young people themselves to embrace innovation, acquire relevant digital skills, develop entrepreneurial mindsets and take advantage of legitimate opportunities that can improve their livelihoods. He urged them to become active participants in their own development rather than passive observers of the changing world.

He reaffirmed that the he remains committed to constructive engagement with government institutions, private organisations and other stakeholders to advance policies and programmes that address the real needs and aspirations of young people.

In conclusion, the NYCN Secretary General expressed his appreciation to Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris for the attention given to technology-driven advancement, calling for sustained collaboration and measurable action to ensure that youth development translates into tangible opportunities for young people across Kogi State.

His message remains clear: Youth development must go beyond rhetoric. It must translate into skills, opportunities, innovation, employment and a better future for every young person in Kogi State.
