*ANKPA LGA APC STAKEHOLDERS RESOLVE TO SUPPORT OMALA'S HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BID IN 2027*



Ankpa, Kogi State - The people of Ankpa Local Government Area have pledged their support for Omala LGA's bid to represent Ankpa Federal Constituency at the National Assembly in the 2027 elections. This development was announced after a meeting between delegations from both LGAs in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

 The Ankpa delegation was led by Prof. Salisu Ogbo who doubles as the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, agreed to support Omala LGA's quest for the House of Representatives seat in exchange for Omala's support for the Kogi East Senatorial District seat in the same 2027 National Assembly elections.

The meeting, which was held on Monday, 21st March, 2026, was attended by prominent stakeholders from both LGAs, including Engr. Yahaya Adamu, Council Chairman of Ankpa LGA, Hon. Arome Alfa, and Alh. Suleiman Ibrahim, Director-General, Protocols to the Governor of Kogi State.

The agreement is seen as a significant development in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, with both LGAs pledging to work together to achieve their objectives. The meeting was described as a "brotherly gathering" and a "critical political horse trading" session.

The Omala LGA delegation had earlier visited Ankpa LGA, led by AIG AbdulSalam Iyaji Rtd, to request their support for the House of Reps bid.

The development has been welcomed by residents of both LGAs, who see it as a positive step towards strengthening ties between the two areas. The agreement is also expected to boost the chances of Omala LGA's candidate in the 2027 elections.

The meeting was followed by a call for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders in the Ankpa Federal Constituency, with a view to ensuring the district's overall development and progress.

Others present at the meeting were Engr. Yahaya Adamu, the Council Chairman of Ankpa LGA and his Vice, the two Houses of Assembly members representing Ankpa 1 & 11, the LGA APC Chairman, the Leader of the Legislative Council, former Commissioner, Hon. Danjuma Idris (OANDO), the former Council Chairman, Hon. Aduga and a host of others, while Alh. Suleiman Ibrahim, the Director-General, Protocols to the Governor of Kogi State led the delegation from Omala LGA. Others on the entourage are Hon. Arome Alfa, Dr. Aminu A. Atabo, Chief James Baba, amongst others.

"The entire people of the 11 wards of Omala LGA praised Ankpa LGA stakeholders for the unprecedented support which they described as the very first of its kind, and have promised not to take it for granted.
