Idah, Kogi State - The Attah Igala's Palace is set to host a grand chieftaincy coronation ceremony tomorrow, April  Third ,2026, as Hon. (Dr) Labaran Yahaya Oyigebe is conferred with the prestigious title of Akohiaka-Attah.Igala.
. The event promises to be a momentous occasion, with dignitaries and well-wishers expected to attend. 
Preparations are underway at the palace, with traditional music, dance, and festivities expected to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Igala people. 
The coronation ceremony is scheduled to hold at 10:00am, and all are invited to join in celebrating this significant event. 
The investiture of Akohiaka-Ata Ede is seen as a milestone in the esteemed career of the new title holder, who is a renowned historian and scholar.

Ankpa, Kogi State - The people of Ankpa Local Government Area have pledged their support for Omala LGA's bid to represent Ankpa Federal Constituency at the National Assembly in the 2027 elections. This development was announced after a meeting between delegations from both LGAs in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.  The Ankpa delegation was led by Prof. Salisu Ogbo who doubles as the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, agreed to support Omala LGA's quest for the House of Representatives seat in exchange for Omala's support for the Kogi East Senatorial District seat in the same 2027 National Assembly elections. The funeral mass for the late Dr. Odekina Friday Odekina an astute and vibrant academician who died recently is about now  being held at the Saint Boniface Catholic Cathedral in Idah, Kogi State, beginning at 10:00 AM. A requiem mass was also held yesterday at his residence at No. 20 GRA Extension, Iyogbo-Idah, in Kogi State. Born on June 6, 1969, Dr. Odekina Friday Odekina passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 56. He is survived by his wife, children, brothers, sisters, and relatives. Today, Dr. Odekina will be laid to rest in Idah, Kogi State, bringing closure to a chapter in the lives of those who loved him. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find solace in the love and support of friends and well-wishers during this difficult time. May God grant him eternal rest. Hassan Abubàkar -Editor.
