Kogi State Government Should Institute a Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the "Miracle Examination Centre" at Olowa
The Ane-Igala Socio-Cultural Development Association (AISCDA) has called on the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to immediately constitute an independent Commission of Inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the so-called "Miracle Examination Centre" at Olowa, which has become a source of national embarrassment and has cast a shadow over the image of Kogi State.
The disturbing reports and visuals emerging from the examination centre portray a completely dilapidated, neglected and deserted environment that is grossly unfit for any academic exercise, especially a public examination. Such a facility raises serious concerns about the integrity of the education system, the welfare and safety of candidates, and the credibility of the processes that led to the approval of the centre.
AISCDA believes that there is far more to this unfortunate incident than is presently known. It is therefore imperative that the investigation be comprehensive, transparent and devoid of interference. The panel should examine every stage of the approval process, identify all individuals and institutions that played any role, and determine whether due diligence and established standards were followed.
The relevant officials within the Ministry of Education and other agencies connected with the establishment, inspection, accreditation and supervision of the examination centre should be invited to account for their respective roles. The public deserves to know how such an environment was considered suitable for hosting an examination, particularly at a time when security concerns across the country require greater vigilance and responsibility.
Beyond identifying those responsible, the inquiry should recommend practical reforms that will strengthen quality assurance, improve monitoring and restore public confidence in the education sector. Kogi State's educational system must be protected from practices capable of undermining its reputation and the future of its students.
The national leadership of AISCDA has absolute confidence in the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and believes that his administration possesses both the political will and commitment to uncover the truth and ensure that justice is done. We trust that his government will take decisive action to expose any wrongdoing and implement measures that will prevent a recurrence.
If any individual or group is found culpable after a fair and transparent investigation, they should be held accountable in accordance with the law. Accountability will serve as a deterrent to future misconduct and reaffirm the government's commitment to integrity, transparency and educational excellence.
AISCDA remains committed to supporting every genuine effort aimed at improving education, promoting accountability and safeguarding the interests of the people of Kogi State.
