President General Okun Development Association (ODA) Ambassador Akenson Rotimi has called for more support for community policing to address growing insecurity ravaging the nation.
Ambassador Rotimi made the demand while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja.
He said insecurity is maintaining a vicious circle cutting across the length and breath of the nation nation and has unleashed fear and uncertainty in terms of safety.
The ex - envoy explained that the situation is frustrating grassroots development due to total desertion of communities by the natives and people boycotting their ancestral homes out of fear of being held in captive.
He matained that conventional policing certainly needs collaborative efforts from stakeholders, saying security is everybody's business.
The ODA President sadly recalled the incessant kidnapping of people of Okun origin and the huge demands from their captors which according to him is sadly above what an average person can raise.
He said ODA as an organisation is doing its best in advocacy to secure every community and has floated Okun Security Trust Fund to support local vigilante and hunters in the aspect of logistics.
Ambassador Rotimi maintained that the Trust Fund attracts noble and respected personalities including Former Attorney General of the Federation , Chief Bayo Ojo who is currently serving as the chairman.
He called on Okun sons and daughters of Okun nation to donate to the Trust Fund with the Account Number 1028468911 (UBA).
