Eid-el-Kabir: Igala Community in Ganaja Pays Sallah Homage to Anaja Gaku, Pledges Support for Peace

Igala residents in Ganaja, Lokoja, on Friday paid a traditional Sallah homage to the Anaja Gaku of Ganaja, His Royal Highness Chief Abubakar Yakubu, as part of activities marking this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Ganaja Igala Cultural and Development Association, ICDA, Prince Daniel Ogacheko.

Other prominent members of the delegation include retired permanent secretaries and retired  directors from the Kogi State Civil Service, alongside other critical stakeholders in the community.

Speaking during the visit, Prince Ogacheko said the homage was to identify with the royal father and to express the appreciation of the Igala residents for his role in promoting peace and harmony among the various ethnic groups residing in Ganaja.

Prince Ogacheko noted that the Igala community remains committed to peaceful coexistence and urged all residents to use the Eid season to deepen unity, tolerance, and mutual respect across religious and ethnic divides.

In his remarks, His Royal Highness Chief Abubakar Yakubu thanked the delegation for the visit and lauded the Igala people for their contributions to the socio-economic development of Ganaja and Lokoja at large.

The Anaja Gaku charged both Muslims and non-Muslims to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion that define Eid-el-Kabir, stressing that collective progress depends on unity and peaceful co-existence.

Speaking at the end of the visit, one of the critical stakeholders and contender to the stool of Onu Igala Ganaja, Chief Dr. Isa Obele, described the outing as successful.

He commended the royal father for his fatherly role and for ensuring peaceful coexistence among the people.

Chief Obele added that traditional institutions remain vital in sustaining stability and called on residents to continue to support the Anaja Gaku and other leaders in their peace-building efforts.

The royal father offered prayers for Kogi State, the nation, and leaders at all levels, asking Almighty Allah to grant them wisdom to steer the affairs of the people toward prosperity.
