Eid-el-Kabir: Gadumo Imam Tasks Muslims on Faith, Love, Says Sacrifice Not Compulsory for Poor*

By Our Reporter

* The Chief Imam of Gadumo Central Mosque, Ustaz Ibrahim Sule, has called on Muslims to see Eid-el-Kabir as a period of reflecting on their faith in Allah, in line with the practice of Prophet Muhammad.

Delivering his sermon   at the Gadumo primary School Eid prayer ground in Lokoja, the cleric urged the faithful to use the season to show love to friends and neighbours by sharing with the less privileged.

He said Muslims who could afford to slaughter ram for the festival should share the meat with those who could not, stressing that Islam encourages charity and peaceful coexistence.

Ustaz Sule also cautioned Muslims to be mindful of the Day of Judgment and to do good at all times, noting that the last day “will surely come.”
The Imam further advised against borrowing to buy ram for the sacrifice, explaining that Islam does not compel those who cannot afford it to carry out the ritual. “Islam has made it easy. Those who cannot afford ram are not under compulsion to offer the sacrifice,” he said.

He added that healthy ram, he-goat, and cow are permissible for the Eid sacrifice.

The Etsu Ankuri of Gadumo, His Royal Highness King Abdulmaleek Suru, expressed gratitude to God for a peaceful Eid celebration in Gaduma, describing this year’s observance as very successful.

“I pray to God Almighty that we witnessed today’s Eid. May God let us witness more years to come. Our Eid observation in Gaduma was successful. I thank Almighty Allah. There was no crisis, no accident, no killing, and no attack. We give glory to God.”

King Abdulmaleek Suru also appreciated Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, praying for his long life and prosperity. He added, “May Kogi State continue to have peace. May greater things come to Kogi State. May his time be the time that Kogi State will continue to celebrate the good legacy he will leave behind.”
The Etsu Ankuri further prayed for other leaders and followers, asking Allah to grant them goodness. He extended Sallah greetings to all Muslim brothers and sisters, wishing them long life, prosperity, and peace.
