Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims: From Legislative Excellence to a Senatorial Call for Kogi East*

By Husseini Abubakar

Most Distinguished,_
In the political history of Kogi East, few names command the respect, loyalty, and admiration earned by *Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims*, the Member representing Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro Federal Constituency and the current *Deputy Majority Leader* of the 10th House of Representatives. His rise is not accidental. It is the product of competence, character, and a consistent record of people-centered leadership.

Rt. Hon. Halims entered the Green Chamber with a clear mandate: to give Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro a strong, credible, and influential voice. He has delivered beyond expectation. As Deputy Majority Leader, he occupies a rare position of trust in the leadership hierarchy — shaping the legislative agenda, building consensus across party lines, and ensuring that the interests of Kogi East are not just heard, but prioritized in national discourse.

His contributions on the floor are defined by substance. He has sponsored and co-sponsored critical bills and motions addressing infrastructure deficits, youth unemployment, agricultural development, and educational reform. In committees, his voice carries weight on issues of power, appropriation, and national planning — strategic platforms that determine how federal resources flow to constituencies like ours.

Beyond Abuja, his impact is visible across the three local governments he represents. From facilitation of rural electrification and water projects to lobbying for road rehabilitation linking agrarian communities to markets, Rt. Hon. Halims has worked to close the development gap. He understands that representation is not about presence in the chamber alone, but about presence in the lives of the people.

. Education and human capital development remain central to his stewardship. Through direct interventions, he has supported the construction and furnishing of classroom blocks, provided learning materials, and facilitated scholarships for indigent students. For him, building a child’s future is building the future of Kogi East.

. In healthcare, his footprint is equally strong. He has championed the equipping of primary health centers, supported free medical outreaches, and used his office to attract federal attention to the health needs of rural communities. During crises, his humanitarian response has been swift — providing relief materials and standing with vulnerable families.

Youth and women empowerment define his grassroots philosophy. From skills acquisition programs to startup grants for small businesses, he has invested in unlocking the economic potential of our people. To many young constituents, he is not just a lawmaker; he is a mentor who connects aspiration to opportunity.

As Deputy Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Halims has also become a bridge between Kogi State and the Federal Government. He has leveraged his position to lobby for projects, appointments, and interventions that benefit not only his constituency but the entire Kogi East Senatorial District. His maturity, negotiation skill, and loyalty have made him a stabilizing force in the House.

It is this record of excellence that now fuels a louder, wider call: *a Senatorial call to serve the entire Kogi East.* The same qualities that made him effective for three LGAs — competence, access, humility, and delivery — are the qualities Kogi East needs at the Red Chamber in 2027. The Senate demands ranking, influence, and national stature. Rt. Hon. Halims already carries all three.

. Kogi East today faces complex challenges: youth unemployment, infrastructure decay, security concerns, and the urgent need for stronger federal presence. These are not problems for a novice. They require a tested legislator who knows the rules, commands respect, and can negotiate development from day one. Rt. Hon. Halims fits that profile without question.

His Senatorial ambition is therefore not personal elevation; it is collective elevation. It is about taking the voice of Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro and amplifying it to cover Idah, Dekina, Ibaji, Igalamela-Odolu, Ofu, and Bassa. It is about ensuring that Kogi East does not go to the Senate to learn, but to lead.

We celebrate you,_ Rt. Hon. Halims, for the dignity you bring to public office. _We cherish you,_ for the bridges you have built and the burdens you have lifted. _We pray for your upliftment, promotion, excellent health, and a prosperous future,_ because your progress is our progress.

You are, indeed, an _epitome of progressive-mindedness_ — a leader who thinks beyond the next election and works for the next generation. As 2027 approaches, Kogi East has a chance to choose experience over experiment, results over rhetoric. With Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims, the Senate is not a gamble. It is a guarantee of purposeful, quality representation.
