*OFFICIAL RESPONSE AND CLARIFICATION*From the Leadership of Omala Indiaspora

The attention of the leadership of Omala Indiaspora has been drawn to the statement issued by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Omala Local Government Area, concerning our endorsement of Hon. Umar Yahaya for the House of Representatives, Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While we acknowledge the concerns raised, it is necessary to respond with clarity, firmness, and a sense of responsibility to the public.

*1. Legitimate Right to Independent Endorsement.*

Omala Indiaspora is an independent, non-partisan, and development-driven body. We categorically state that we possess the inalienable right to freely associate, express opinions, and endorse any individual we consider capable of advancing the development of our constituency.

Our endorsement of Hon. Umar Yahaya was deliberate, informed, and based on verifiable performance and grassroots impact. It is neither subject to external approval nor constrained by party structures.

*2. Clear Non-Partisan Position.*

For the avoidance of doubt, our endorsement was not made on behalf of any political party, nor was it presented as such. At no point did we claim to represent the APC or any other political platform.

Therefore, any interpretation suggesting that our position attempts to pre-empt or override party processes is misplaced and unfounded.

*3. Democratic Reality and Political Context.*

It is important to state unequivocally that endorsements by groups, associations, and stakeholders are a normal and legitimate feature of democratic engagement, particularly as election cycles approach.

Across Omala and beyond, various groups have openly expressed support for aspirants based on their convictions. To single out our endorsement as inappropriate creates a false narrative and does not reflect the broader political reality.

*4. No Conflict with Party Processes.*

Omala Indiaspora respects the constitutional role of political parties, including the APC, in conducting primaries and producing candidates. However, our civic endorsement does not and cannot substitute or interfere with these processes.

Rather, it represents the voice of a segment of the people, expressed peacefully and within democratic bounds.

*5. Firm Position Against Misrepresentation.*

We firmly reject any insinuation that our endorsement seeks to speak for the entire Omala political structure or any party apparatus. Our position is clear, defined, and limited to our membership and supporters.

Equally, we urge that our independent civic action should not be misconstrued or politicized beyond its intended purpose.

*Conclusion:*

Omala Indiaspora stands resolute in its decision and will continue to exercise its constitutional right to support credible leadership in the interest of development and effective representation.

We remain committed to constructive engagement, but we will not be deterred from expressing our position within the bounds of democracy.

Signed:
Leadership, Omala Indiaspora.
