"Prof. Ocheni Urges Academics to Harness Educat



Renowned academic and former Minister, Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, has emphasized the crucial role of education in driving positive change in the society. Receiving the Vice Chancellor Meritorious Service Award from Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Ocheni stressed the importance of sustained academic excellence, responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, and the need for academics to prioritize research, integrity, and innovation.

Prof. Ocheni, who was represented at the ceremony by a former Council chairman and also former chairman of the kogi state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NuJ,Comrade (Alhaji) Ali Atabor, expressed gratitude to the university for the recognition and commended the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for his outstanding leadership. He also acknowledged the support of the Governing Council, led by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and the Chancellor, His Royal Majesty, AGAABAIDU.the Attah Igala and President Kogi state council of Chiefs,Dr Mathew Alaji Ogwuche Akpa the second.

 Prof. Ocheni quoted Nelson Mandela, saying, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." He urged academics and educators to harness the power of education to make a positive impact on society, emphasizing the need for responsible use of Artificial Intelligence and prioritizing research, integrity, and innovation.


The award ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the academic and political spheres, who praised Prof. Ocheni's contributions to education and national development.
