Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo Pledges Accelerated Support for Sports and Youth Development
Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has reaffirmed his commitment to providing necessary support and attention to sports and youth development in the state. This declaration was made through a message, while the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, provided more details on the plans for sports and youth development in 2025.
According to Hon. Anyebe, the current administration has a passion for youth and sports development, and is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure their growth and progress. He noted that sports will be considered in the scheme of things, with all necessary support provided to ensure the progressp and growth of sporting activities in the state.
The Confluence Stadium in Lokoja will be renovated to meet international standards, as part of the administration's efforts to boost sports development in the state. Additionally, sports competitions will be organized in the three senatorial districts to promote grassroots sports development.
The state government also plans to empower youths through various programs and activities. Hon. Anyebe emphasized that stakeholders in the sports sector will be carried along to ensure the success of these plans.
He also commended the Kogi State Sports Council for winning gold medals in various sporting activities across the country last year, and assured that more support will be given to them this year to achieve even better results.
Work is also ongoing to enhance volleyball activities in the state, with the construction of a model standard court at the Kogi State Sports Center.
Hon. Anyebe called on sports lovers and youth to join hands with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to develop sporting activities and youth development in the state. He emphasized that government alone cannot do everything, and urged collective efforts from all stakeholders.
The Commissioner charged staff and management of the Ministry to rededicate their efforts and put in more zeal towards the progress and growth of sporting and youth development in the state. He assured the people of the state of the present administration's commitment to enhancing the activities of the Ministry for the betterment of the state.
