Kogi State Bureau of Lands Development Launches Statewide Property Enumeration Exercise
The Kogi State Bureau of Lands Development has commenced a statewide property enumeration exercise aimed at creating a comprehensive database of properties in the state. This initiative is designed to enable individuals, organizations, communities, and foreign investors to identify and take ownership of their properties under a rancour-free condition.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Estate Surveyor and Valuer Baiyegusi Samuel Taiwo, the property enumeration exercise is geared towards getting an accurate database that will enable the government to plan for the socio-economic and security development of the state. Taiwo stated this while addressing newsmen on the commencement of the new policy in Lokoja.
The present administration, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has demonstrated a genuine commitment to making the entire state an epicentre of economics and commercial hub and investment haven. Hence, the property enumeration exercise aims to develop a data bank for accurate information about existing lands and other properties in the state.
Taiwo advised citizens to cooperate with the officers by providing information about their properties, emphasizing that the exercise is not meant to witch-hunt any individual but to facilitate the planning of the state. He also warned residents not to pay money to the enumerators deployed for the exercise, insisting that it is free.
The benefits of the property enumeration exercise include ease of business transactions, enhanced security services, and increased investment opportunities. It will also create wealth, attract foreign and local investors, and reduce land disputes between individuals.
"When actualized, it will make Kogi State a destination for local, national, and international earnings," Taiwo noted. "Land disputes between individuals, community to community, organization to organization, will be brought under control with this new initiative."
The property enumeration exercise is a brainchild of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, aimed at fast-tracking the socio-economic growth and development of the state. With this initiative, property owners will be able to access their property information outside the state using Google Apps, while citizens can approach financial institutions to obtain facilities with genuine property documents.
The Kogi State Bureau of Lands Development is committed to ensuring the success of this initiative, and Taiwo urged citizens to support the exercise by providing accurate information about their properties.
The property enumeration exercise is a significant step towards transforming Kogi State into a hub for economic growth and development. With the support of the citizens, the state government is confident that this initiative will yield positive results and improve the lives of the people.
