100 Days of Remarkable Progress: Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Atabor is Providing the Right Leadership

In less than three months as the Executive Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor has made significant strides in various areas towards taking the local government to greater heights.

Security:
Recognizing the primary responsibility of government in safeguarding lives and property, Hon. Atabor has prioritized security in line with Governor Ododo's determination. He has significantly invested in supporting security operatives in the local government by enhancing their welfare to boost operational morale. Providing them with crested uniforms and essential equipment to combat crimes and criminalities to complement state governments' efforts towards ensuring more effective security operations. This is a critical intervention that has ensured peace and security across the local government area.

Order and Safety:
In a bold move, Hon. Atabor led a campaign to remove barricades and dismantle structures obstructing free road access, which had been a long-standing cause of avoidable traffic and accidents, the initiative has greatly reduced fatalities, and improved road safety and accessibility to users.

Environmental Sanitation:
Another remarkable effort under (Barr.) Atabor's leadership is the introduction of the Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Environmental Sanitation Bye-law (2024). This Executive Bill passed through the Legislative arm, aims to introduce sustainable sanitation practices across the local government to enhance a clean and healthy environment. The sanitation exercise is billed to be held every month.

Market Decongestion and Waste Management:
Hon. Atabor has tackled the issue of market congestion, particularly in the major markets within the area. He addressed the waste management problem in Ajaka Market by overseeing the removal of refuse and relocating traders from unauthorized spots including roadsides back to designated market spaces, an effort that took significant commitment and determination.

Agricultural Support:
To promote food security and well-being, Hon. Atabor facilitated the provision of agricultural revolving funds for local farmers, boosting agricultural productivity, economic stability, and well-being.

Road Grading:
Hon. (Barr.) Atabor has undertaken the grading of some feeder roads in the local government area, improving accessibility, enhancing agricultural output, and fostering better trade activities between neighboring communities.

Educational Intervention:
Through his Education Foundation, Hon. Atabor has reached out to several indigent students in various tertiary institutions with tuition fee support. An intervention that has brought relief to parents and provides a secure path for the students who are the leaders of the future. Hon. Atabor also distributed educational materials to schools around the local government to support learning.

Social and Health Support:
Hon. Atabor in his compassionate spirit, has provided financial and physical support to the aged, underprivileged, religious, and social groups across the local government. He has extended financial support to persons with health challenges needing medical assistance. 

Community Engagement:
(Barr.) Cosmas Atabor has demonstrated love and regard for the people of his local government. He has regularly engaged with his people. Stakeholders, community and religious leaders, trade unions, associations, youth and women groups have had unhindered access to engage with him on personal and collective aspirations. This avenue has further contributed to the sustained unity, peace, and harmony within the local government currently.

Though 100 days may be too brief a period to evaluate a leader's full potential, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor has recorded remarkable achievements within this short time, which demonstrates his capability and commitment to position Igalamela/Odolu on a sure path to greatness.
