_Kogi PDP: Gambo Insists on Swearing-in as Authentic Chairman_

_

A chairmanship candidate in the last Kogi state PDP Congress, Hon. Mohamed Sani Gambo, has called on the PDP Governors Forum, PDP caucus in the National Assembly, constitutional lawyers, and well-meaning Nigerians to intervene in the PDP leadership crisis in the state. In a telephone interview, Gambo urged them to save the Nigerian constitution and ensure that the right thing is done.

According to Gambo, the person parading himself as the PDP State Chairman was not part of the congress due to a subsisting court order that barred him from participating. Gambo emphasized that he is the authentic winner of the election and should be immediately sworn in as the Kogi state Chairman of the PDP.

Gambo stressed that he is asking for justice and fairness, describing the PDP as one family that must not allow itself to be disintegrated due to personal interests. He noted that every member of the party must adhere to the party's constitution, emphasizing that no one is above the law.

Gambo pointed out that the PDP is set to salvage the country and should not allow illegality and impunity to persist. He promised that if sworn in as the duly elected chairman of the party, he would work to ensure unity and restore the needed sanity, adding that the party should not condone godfatherism.

The leadership crisis in the Kogi state PDP has raised concerns among stakeholders, with some calling for the intervention of the national leadership of the party. Gambo's appeal is the latest in a series of calls for intervention in the crisis.

Gambo's insistence on legitimate chairmanship is backed by the court's declaration that his opponent, Hon. Enemona Anyebe, was not qualified to stand for the chairmanship election. The court order, which barred Anyebe from participating in the election, must be obeyed, Gambo emphasized.

The PDP has been working to resolve its internal crises, with the party's governors' forum, Board of Trustees, and National Assembly caucus recently resolving the leadership crisis at the national level. However, the party still faces challenges in some states, including Kogi.

Gambo expressed his commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and the rule of law, stating that his victory in the chairmanship election was a testament to the will of the people. He urged the party leadership to respect the outcome of the election and avoid any actions that could undermine the party's integrity. Gambo insisted that he should be sworn in as the authentic winner of the election, adding that anything short of this would be a travesty of justice.

Gambo also called on his supporters to remain calm and peaceful, assuring them that he would not rest until justice is served. He emphasized that the struggle for legitimate leadership is not a personal issue, but a matter of principle and a fight for the soul of the party.

Gambo concluded by reiterating his call for intervention, urging the relevant authorities to take prompt action to address the crisis and ensure that the PDP in Kogi state is led by a legitimate and democratically elected chairman.
