Igalamela/Odolu Legislative Council Receives Leadership Development Training
The Igalamela Youth Renaissance Ajaka (IYRA), in collaboration with the Building Aspiring Leadership Foundation Abuja, organized a workshop titled "Empowering Legislators for Quality Leadership" for the Honourable Councillors of the ten political wards in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area (LGA).
Dr. Usman Onechojon Timothy, an expert in Leadership Capacity Development, highlighted the importance of honesty, transparency, and accountability as essential pillars of effective leadership.
He intensified the role of leaders in creating progress roadmaps that align with community aspirations, emphasizing the need to inspire and motivate teams to achieve shared goals.
Dr. Usman also encouraged partnerships with individuals, corporate organizations, and NGOs to achieve impactful, long-term community development objectives leaving the wards better than they met it.
Apim Ajigosoko Edward, a specialist in Constitutional Law and Legislative Drafting, provided the councillors with insights into drafting and presenting proposals for legislative deliberations noting the stages a proposal should undergo before it can be accepted for practice.
He emphasized the significance of post-legislative scrutiny to ensure enacted laws remain relevant and adaptable to community needs.
In his response, the Deputy Council Leader, Hon. Abubakar Abdulkadir, expressed acknowledged the impactful contributions of the resource persons and organizers, pledging to apply the knowledge gained to practical leadership.
Mr. Alih Nasir Adamu, President of IYRA, expressed his gratitude to the spokespersons of the sister partner of IYRA and councilors for their dedication and assured them of the organization's continued partnership in fostering leadership development.
Hon. Muhammed Edicha, Secretary to the Local Government and representative of the Executive Chairman extends appreciation to the resource persons and the organizers of the workshop.
He reaffirmed the council's commitment to partnering with the organizing teams to enhance leadership skills and promote good governance in Igalamela/Odolu LGA.
