Setting the Record Straight: Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah's True Commitment to Handball Development in Kogi State

In response to recent media coverage, we wish to clarify Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah's commitment to handball development in Kogi State. Contrary to suggestions, Hon. Ogah's intentions have been misrepresented, and we aim to set the record straight.

Hon. Ogah is a dedicated patriot with a clear vision to elevate handball across Kogi State. He has consistently demonstrated his commitment to sports development, particularly handball, investing personal resources to revitalize the sport ¹. His dedication stems from a deep-rooted belief in sports' potential to unify, inspire, and advance the state.

A recent meeting convened by Hon. Monday A. Anyebe, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, produced a unanimous resolution. Stakeholders, including Mr. Jibrin Orji Saidu, agreed to allow Mr. Saidu to complete his tenure ending in April next year. Hon. Ogah will then assume leadership, ushering in a new era of innovation and dedication to handball development.
We however debunk the assertion that Hon.Mark Okpanachi promised to abide by all the resolutions at the meeting and see this as a misrepresentation.

This transition represents a commitment to move past unproductive practices and elevate the sport under Hon. Ogah's forward-thinking leadership. The consensus, signed by all stakeholders, underscores a collective determination to embrace a dynamic approach to handball development.

Hon. Ogah's vision includes:

- *Grassroots Engagement*: Identifying and nurturing young talents from all parts of Kogi State
- *Youth Development*: Establishing handball programs in secondary schools and tertiary institutions
- *Partnerships*: Collaborating with the Kogi State government, Ministry of Youths and Sports, and local sponsors
- *Competitive Tournaments*: Organizing state-level tournaments and reviving national tournaments

Hon. Ogah's leadership will undoubtedly breathe new life into the handball sector, creating a platform for young athletes to thrive and bringing pride to Kogi State.

 Signed:. Christopher Sunday:
Media Assistant to Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah.
