*NNPCL Staffers Rejoice Over Sack of Top Executives Eyesan and Ajiya*
There was jubilation at the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) headquarters on Thursday following the sack of Executive Vice President (Upstream) Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan and Chief Financial Officer Umar Ajiya. The NNPCL Board expelled the duo in a management shake-up, appointing replacements to enhance corporate governance and operational efficiency ¹.
Staffers praised the Board's swift action, saying Eyesan and Ajiya's removal was long overdue. The pair had been accused of sabotaging Group Chief Executive Officer Engineer Mele Kyari and opposing key policy decisions. Their exit is seen as a positive step for NNPCL's progress and alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

Industry stakeholders, including the Niger Delta Consultative Assembly, welcomed the move, citing the need for progressive leadership. A senior International Oil Company staff member praised the Board's bold decision, saying it would ease business operations and allow NNPCL to move forward.
The sack of Eyesan and Ajiya follows a September 2023 management restructuring, where NNPCL sent staff with less than 15 months to retirement on compulsory early retirement ¹. This strategic renewal aims to support NNPCL's business objectives and enhance its capabilities.
