'Empower Youths with Digital Skills' - 'Tech on the Street' Convener Urges_



Individuals and corporate organisations have been urged to promote initiatives that will empower youths with digital skills, making them self-reliant and employable.

The convener of 'Tech on the Street', Associate Doctor Umoru Caleb, made the appeal in Lokoja during the training of participants on the programme. The initiative aims to empower youths with various skills acquisition to earn a living.

Caleb emphasized that while the government has made efforts in youth empowerment, there is a need for more focus on digital technology, which is more flexible, easier, and dynamic for a successful lifestyle.

He described 'Tech on the Street' as a brainchild of professionals and academia who are working together to study the trend of unemployment and proffer solutions through tech and digital skills.

According to Caleb, technology skills can be acquired within two weeks and can serve as a means of earning a living if utilized legitimately. The organisation offers various programmes, including those that last between two weeks to four months.

The pilot scheme is currently free, with the hope that well-meaning Nigerians will partner with the organisation for expansion. Caleb recalled how the organisation has promoted several petty traders and shop owners through online marketing of their goods and products.
