*Nigeria Reviews SDGs Progress: OSSAP-SDGs Convenes Stakeholder Meeting*

Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is leading Nigeria's review of its progress toward achieving the SDGs. In collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs (OSSAP-SDGs) convened a National Stakeholders' Consultative Meeting on October 8-9, 2024. This two-day consultation aims to galvanize stakeholders to take ownership of reporting inclusive progress on the Global Goals' implementation.

The assessment will utilize 230 key performance indicators, supplemented by additional national and sub-national metrics. This effort is part of Nigeria's commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by 193 UN member states in 2015. The SDGs encompass 17 interconnected goals addressing poverty, hunger, education, gender equality, environmental degradation, and other development challenges.

_Key Areas of Focus:_
- _Economic Growth_: Nigeria's economic growth rate is expected to plateau at 3% by 2024-2025, with a focus on reducing poverty.
- _Poverty Reduction_: The government aims to lift 100 million people out of poverty through decent jobs, economic growth, and infrastructure development.
- _Industrialization_: Promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization to foster economic growth and employment.

By convening this stakeholder meeting, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire emphasizes the importance of collective action in achieving Nigeria's SDG targets.

The meeting brings together representatives from government agencies, civil society organizations, private sector stakeholders, and international development partners to:

- Review Nigeria's SDGs progress
- Identify challenges and opportunities
- Strengthen partnerships for accelerated action
- Enhance coordination and accountability

Through this collaborative effort, Nigeria aims to fast-track its SDGs implementation and achieve a more sustainable and equitable future for all citizens.
