*Renowned Islamic Scholar Urges Citizens to Pray for Leaders*

Sheikh Hassan Mikalu, founder of Ojo Ar-Rahman Kunfayakun Islamic Prayer Center in Lokoja, Kogi State, has called on citizens to continue praying for those in positions of authority. He made this appeal during a Juma'at service marking the last Friday of July 2024.

Sheikh Mikalu emphasized that persistent prayers for leaders will enable them to make positive changes and improve the lives of citizens. He commended Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people, particularly the prompt payment of workers' salaries.

The cleric cautioned against criticizing leaders, instead advocating for unwavering support and cooperation. He urged the congregation to offer supplications for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Commissioner Mallam Bashiru Gegu Mohammed, and the Ata Igala kingdom, Chief Matthew Ogunche Akpa.

Sheikh Mikalu also advised against harboring negative spirits, such as the "pull him/her down" syndrome, blackmail, and hatred. He encouraged forgiveness and presented cash and food to hundreds of worshipers after offering prayers for peace, unity, and progress in the state.
