The Federal Government has been urged to look into the critical areas of security and economy
The Federal Government has been urged to look into the critical areas of security and economy to move the nation forward and make democracy more enjoyable by the people.
Chairman Yagba East Traditional Council and Agbana of Isanlu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Moses Etombi gave the suggestions in Lokoja while reacting to the twenty seventh years of uninterrupted democracy celebration in Nigeria.
Oba Etombi said the results of various economic policies and reforms have not been positively felt at the grassroots level, urging government to deeply look into that dimension.
He specifically emphasized on the subsidy removal and its attendance consequences as well as importation of consumable items and called for a review to make goods affordable to the masses.
On the issues of insecurity, the Traditional Ruler who noted that the situation is getting bad said state policing as wildly supported might offer positive solutions.
His words " The matter of kidnappings have gone beyond traveling on our roads. Even when you are sleeping now, you can't close both eyes. In schools, Churches, Mosques, people are afraid to go there. So if government can focus on the aspect of economy and security, life will be better. I will encourage President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to concentrate on those two areas. If you don't have security, you cannot develop in any area."
Oba Etombi also called for more support of traditional institutions into security architecture, saying no traditional ruler will want his community to be invaded or exposed to danger.
He maintained that traditional rulers in Okun nation are putting in their best to secure their environment and appealed to government to compliment their efforts.
While describing the celebration as a mixture of both kudos and knocks, the Traditional Ruler said the nation has been able to withstand so many challenges and expressed hope that their will certainly be light at the end of the tunnel.
