O'odua Stakeholders Council Calls for Investigation into Nigerian Navy's Alleged Involvement in Oil Theft
The O'odua Stakeholders Council (OSC) has called for the immediate removal of Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff. In an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the group alleged that the Nigerian Navy, under Ogalla's leadership, is involved in crude oil theft and economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.
The OSC described the Navy's actions as a "slap in the face" to the nation and the president, who has entrusted Ogalla with the responsibility of protecting the country's maritime environment. The group urged President Tinubu to take immediate action to address the anomaly and restore the integrity of the Nigerian Navy.
The OSC also requested that the president set up a high-powered investigative panel to investigate the allegations of oil theft and economic sabotage made against the Navy. The group further suggested that the president should prioritize immediate reforms to enhance accountability and ensure that the country's economic interests are protected.
Furthermore, the OSC emphasized that the Nigerian Navy's involvement in oil theft is a clear betrayal of the trust vested in them. The group stated that the Navy's actions are not only illegal but also undermine the efforts of the federal government to combat oil theft and promote economic growth.
In addition, the OSC expressed concern that the Navy's involvement in oil theft may be symptomatic of a larger problem within the organization. The group urged the president to take a closer look at the Navy's leadership and structures to identify and address any underlying issues that may be contributing to the problem.
