_PDP Chieftain Cries Foul Over Kogi State Chairmanship Election, Calls for Intervention_

By Bala Mohammed.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Muhammad Sani Gambo, has appealed to the national leadership of the party to intervene in the controversy surrounding the recent election of the Kogi State Chairman. Gambo, who was the first runner-up in the election, alleged that the declared winner, Hon. Enemona Anyebe, was suspended from his Ward, OGUGU 2, and subsequently from the Local Government and State levels in 2019. In a shocking turn of events, Anyebe's suspension was reaffirmed by his Ward in 2024, casting doubts on his eligibility to contest the chairmanship election.

Despite this, Anyebe was allowed to participate in the election and was declared the winner. However, a court order obtained by an aggrieved party member had explicitly stated that Anyebe should not participate in the election until the determination of the case. The court order, which was dismissed on September 26, also directed that Anyebe's nomination form be withdrawn.

_Court Order Ignored_

Gambo described the situation as "outright absurdity" and called on the national leadership of the PDP to declare him the winner and swear him in as the rightful chairman. He emphasized the need for the PDP to set a good standard as an opposition party and respect the rule of law. Gambo appealed to the National Chairman, National Organizing Secretary, National Legal Adviser, PDP Governors, Senators, and Members of the House of Representatives to intervene quickly to save the party in Kogi State from disintegration.

_Respect for Court Order_

Gambo stressed that the PDP is a law-abiding party and that the court order must be respected. He called on the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Chairman to use their good offices to ensure that the court order is obeyed. Gambo demanded justice, fairness, and equity, stating that he is the true winner of the election and should be sworn in as the chairman immediately.

_Consequences of Inaction_

The controversy has sparked concerns among party members and stakeholders, who fear that if left unresolved, it could lead to further divisions and weaken the party's chances in future elections. Gambo's appeal for intervention is seen as a last resort to prevent the party from being torn apart by internal conflicts.

_PDP's Reputation at Stake_

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the national leadership of the PDP to take decisive action and restore order in the Kogi State chapter. The party's reputation as a formidable opposition force hangs in the balance, and only time will tell if they can resolve this crisis and emerge stronger.

_Thanks to NWC_

Gambo thanked the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP for its efforts in moving the party forward so far. He expressed hope that the NWC would take swift action to address the controversy and ensure that justice is served.
