  Fellow Kogites, my dear compatriots,   It is with great joy that I address you today on this special occasion of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary. I join millions of Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating this milestone in our journey as a nation. I felicitate with the good people of Kogi State and all Nigerians as we mark 64 years of our nation’s emancipation from British colonial rule.   Today, we honor the national heroes from every corner of this great country who fought courageously for our freedom. Their sacrifices remind us that our liberty was hard-earned, and we must cherish and safeguard it. We also commend all leaders - both civilian and military - who have governed Nigeria, and those who have led us in our dear State too, since independence. The Niger Delta Stakeholders Assembly (NDSA) has accused Oritsemeyan Eseyan and Umar Ajiya, management members of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), of conspiring against Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Mele Kyari. Rising from a Stakeholders engagement with the Niger Delta women, organised by the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), themed "Niger Delta Women: Empowerment as a Panacea for Peace, Stability and Economic Growth", the women groups lamented that many self-interested bodies are presently going about with ulterior motives asking people to do negative things". *Land Dispute: Iddo-Ojesa Community Seeks Government Intervention*

By Johnson Oni The Iddo-Ojesa community in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State has appealed to the government to intervene in a lingering land dispute between the community and Relix Mining Limited, in collaboration with Joshman Multiconcepts Company Limited. Olusanmi Toyin, President of Iddo-Ojesa, made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja. He alleged that the community is in dispute with Relix Mining Company Limited, a Chinese company, which purportedly acquired the land through fraudulent means with the assistance of Joshman Multiconcept Limited, a Nigerian company, and other individuals. Lokoja It's no longer news that the former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello have been having running battle with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission(EFCC) under the president Ahmed Bola Tinubu's administration since the later assumed office. The clamour for more funding to Basic Education and by extension Education subsector from both the public and by extension the private sector in the country has began to yield positive results. This was occasioned by the recent upward review and impressive assessment of the matching grants by the sub national to improve Basic Education, Infrastructure, manpower development among many others towards the progress and development of Basic Education in Nigeria. The yearly counterpart funding arrangements between the federal and state government got a 100% increment in 2024 appropriation , from the previous 1.5 Billion in 2023 to the new allocation of impressive 3.5 Billion as the new matching grants to states and FCT. Muhammad Sani Gambo, has appealed to the national leadership of the party to intervene in the controversy surrounding the recent election of the Kogi State Chairman. Gambo, who was the first runner-up in the election, alleged that the declared winner, Hon. Enemona Anyebe, was suspended from his Ward, OGUGU 2, and subsequently from the Local Government and State levels in 2019. In a shocking turn of events, Anyebe's suspension was reaffirmed by his Ward in 2024, casting doubts on his eligibility to contest the chairmanship election. Despite this, Anyebe was allowed to participate in the election and was declared the winner. However, a court order obtained by an aggrieved party member had explicitly stated that Anyebe should not participate in the election until the determination of the case.
